As Europe’s largest trade fair for manufacturing technologies, EMO 2011 (Hanover, 19-24 September) is pitched as the platform where the whole metalworking world meets. Sandvik Coromant’s ‘Smart Hub’ will have a notable presence at the show in Hall 5 (stand B20), from where it will attract the attention of visitors through a mix of new product innovations, eye-catching cutting demonstrations and, of course, a warm and friendly welcome. The following is a selection of new products making an appearance.

Additional inserts for CoroMill® 316Three new insert styles for the innovative CoroMill® 316 exchangeable head end mill system will be on show at EMO. These comprise a ballnose insert equipped with a strong cutting edge for tasks such as profile milling, aluminium machining and finishing. There is also a corner radius insert for slot milling, shoulder milling, plunge milling, face milling, ramping and pocketing, and finally a chamfer insert. Each insert has two cutting edges.

Quick-change clamping unitsThese new quick-change clamping units take advantage of Sandvik Coromant’s quick change tooling system, Coromant Capto®, which has been proven to dramatically reduce downtime with set-up and tool changing efficiency. Furthermore, the new products are equipped to channel high pressure coolant from the latest CoroTurn® HP cutting heads.

Coromant Capto C10Suitable for all types of heavy machining operations in large components, the new Coromant Capto® size C10 improves performance by allowing higher feeds and greater depths of cut. One of the secrets behind their success is a large flange diameter of 100 mm, which creates a coupling that provides extreme stability.

CoroMill 176 gear milling cutterA new full profile hob for gear milling, CoroMill 176, will also be on display. This is an indexable carbide insert hob that can reduce cutting time by an impressive 50 per cent and more than double tool life compared to traditional HSS cutters. Available for roughing, semi-finishing and finishing operations, the tool covers gear profile sizes in the module 4-6 range.

Additional Silent Tools milling adaptorsAvailable in lengths 4-5xD, the extended range of Silent Tools dampened adaptors can provide productivity gains of more than 50 per cent over non-dampened systems. They allow longer engagement milling cycles through increased temperature limitation and the possibility to channel coolant through the arbor, thereby increasing tool life.

CoroDrill® 860The fastest solid carbide drill on the market, CoroDrill 860 will be previewed at EMO before its official launch in March 2012. Optimised for steel, this drill is a top performer for conventional drilling, chamfered holes, inclined surfaces, cross holes, stack drilling and convex/concave surfaces. With excellent chip evacuation control, when using high cutting data in long and short chipping materials, the drill provides consistent and problem-free drilling.

In addition to these showcased products, Sandvik Coromant will also be revealing hundreds of other new additions to its portfolio, applicable to nearly every industry and application.

Visitors can also find Sandvik Coromant during the week at the ‘Milestones in Cost Effective Titanium Component Production’ event taking place in Hall 26, and on Stand C09 at the Youth Show in Hall 25. Additionally, the Sandvik Coromant Service Team will be on hand in Pavilion 35.
