Frankfurt am Main, 26 January 2012. – The mood in the capital goods industry continues to be optimistic. As demonstrated not least by the METAV preparations of the exhibitors and the organiser VDW (German Machine tool Builders’ Association) a good five weeks before the fair begins.
The current status is that we’re expecting approximately 620 exhibitors from 26 different countries”, reports Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director at the METAV organiser VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association). With more than 35,500 m², the net exhibition area occupied is more than 10 per cent up on the figure for the previous event in 2010. “The keen participatory interest in the first international trade fair in the metalworking sector right at the year’s beginning shows that following a successful 2011 the firms are anticipating a successful time in 2012 as well”, to quote Wilfried Schäfer again.
A significant contribution towards the METAV’s growth is coming from the manufacturers of high-precision tools, who will be occupying about a fifth of the total exhibition area, with an increase of 50 per cent.
The METAV is an attractive platform for international vendors of production technology as well, who are particularly keen to show the flag in Europe’s biggest market as early in the year as possible. 12 per cent of the exhibitors will be coming from overseas, primarily from Japan and the USA, and around 20 per cent from Europe outside Germany.
“The METAV offers trade visitors a comprehensively attractive platform”, reports Wilfried Schäfer. The VDW, he continues has brought numerous partners on board, so as to put together and extensive accompanying programme. Supplementing the exhibitors’ showcased capabilities, it offers trade visitors additional benefits from their visit to the fair. “Electromobility, sustainable cutting processes, solutions for producing medical technology, machining composites, recruiting new talent – all of these are issues our customers are keen to address. And for this the METAV provides them with innovative exhibits, discussions and assistance”, explains Wilfried Schäfer. More than 70 companies and institutions are involved in the METAV’s accompanying programme.
