Vivabox is one of packaging producer BDMO’s largest product lines at its factory in Meulebeke, a town in the Flanders, Belgium. When they needed a solution to their automated packaging assembly needs BDMO requested offers from ABB System Integrator Viscon. Viscon’s winning offer proposed a ‘pick-and-place’ system that could handle 1,200 trays an hour.A tight fit problem was resolved by using the 6-axis functionality of ABB’s IRB 120 robot; it inserts the tray at an angle before pushing it firmly down to the base and onto spots of glue.The resulting solution now runs 16 hours a day in two shifts. Needless to say, the cost savings have been significant.Looking ahead, BDMO will use robots to automate other production processes; for example, inserting one finished box inside another in order to reduce shipping costs.

Movie illustrates the benefits of using relatively small tools and high feedrates Efficient GibbsCAM milling strategies used were; – Hifeed Spiral Facemilling, Plungeroughing, VoluMill Pocketing and HiSpeed chamfering. Another benefit is that the CNC code produced in GibbsCAM does not require advanced HiSpeed functionality in the machines controller. This particular machine had no extra HiSpeed options installed.

In this TaskMate™ system developed for Syngenta Biotechnology, a FANUC LR Mate 200iC robot grabs solution from a tray of laboratory bottles with a custom-made gripper.
The FANUC LR Mate then agitates the solution by shaking and swirling the bottle. The robot’s six axes allow for a wider range of motion.
The FANUC LR Mate then places the bottle on an integrated scale where the bottle is weighed and data is collected.
The weight for each bottle is updated in a PC-based control program with an Ethernet connection.
The results? Syngenta says that the speed of this data collection process has increased their raw data flow several thousand percent, and derives more value by driving new research to new areas.
Syngenta also says that the benefits of an automated process using FANUC Robotics allow them to consider that the robotic system paid for itself in less than one year.

SYNCRONO is a radically innovative machine for the very fast and accurate cutting of the sheet metal, even on very complex trajectories.
SYNCRONO reaches an effective acceleration (i.e. during cutting) of over 6 g. More than 1000 holes per minute, twice as many as the fastest machines on the market, are an excellent demonstration of its performances.
SYNCRONO is based on an utterly unique solution. There are in fact two machines in one, perfectly synchronized: one small and light head, with very high dynamics and minimum moving masses and one larger machine, with a wide working area (3000×1500 mm). The two machines are coordinated by patented algorithms, for the most advantageous distribution of the movements throughout the axes.
Deep holes in one drilling operation — in machining like this, the XD drills from the Walter Titex brand are unbeatable. XD stands for “extremely deep” — without the need for pecking. This characteristic is more appropriate than ever, because this tool type can now reach a drilling depth of 70 x Dc. That is a world record.
A dramatic illustration of the effect of too long a gauge line. Using any type of chuck the gauge line or programming length on BT30 machines creates vibration in milling. The integrated BT30 with EH (exchangeable head) coupling and CoroMill 316 managed 4.5 times higher depth of cut improving metal cutting efficiency and reducing tool costs.
